Much of this import/export is completely needless and wasteful - perhaps instead of expanding transport infrastucture to accommodate this and allow it to increase, the government should be looking more closely at the whole system, and finding ways of reducing the endless imports/exports, particularly of food - i.e. by encouraging localisation of the economy, so that more and more of our needs are met closer to home. |
