But all the major pollitical parties, either at Westminster of in the local planning authorities, grasp every chance to expand money making enterprizes without a thought for the disastrous effect on the environment. Until we stop thinking that economic developemt is amassing large monetary profits for international companies we are not going to build a SUSTAINABLE economy and slow climate change. Air transport is the most polluting of all forms of transport and the most disruptive to the environment. |

Repeated expansion of the road infrastructure to fulfil demand has only succeeded in generating further demand by ensuring that it remains convenient and attractive for business and the public to drive everywhere with little regard for the environmental consequences. Instead of fulfilling the demands of the have-lots who want to take to the skies more and more we should be considering the have-nots who suffer most in the extremes of climate induced by global warming. |

More and more communication by phone, internet and tv makes less need too. The directors and execs of the airport industry should be required to live at their filth-holes themselves. Before all these airports were built everyone had a job, begging was unknown. Now depression and stress are at record levels in countries that have had the "benefits" of all those transport misvestments. |
