Airport expansion- amongst the means to kill quicker our planet!

Flying is a privilege not a right. We need to reduce the amount we fly so that future generations, and in particular the poor, don't end up paying for our profligacy with the earth's resources. Everyone, including governments and corporations, needs to act on this. Personally I intend to limit my own flights and in a small way reduce the demands for expansion, as well as supporting campaigns against airport expansion.

I used to live in Winford 15 years ago and our house was directly underneath a flight path. It was very noisey and disruptive to our lives back then, and today there are increased flights despite the proposed expansion. Therefore the noise and pollution levels will no doubt rise to unacceptable levels.
The only benefits are financial for those involved in the development.
Surely we should be encouraging our councils to follow strategies promoting local economy that is more ecologically sound and sustainable for the long term. Is our local council deaf to the growing concern about the environmental issues we all face? Are they ignorant of our central Government's apparent commitment to reducing carbon emissions? This is a short-sighted strategy for increasing local economic activity if we are facing a "peak-oil" situation.
We need to start encouraging sustainable solutions that benefit the local environment as well as local residents whilst encouraging local economic activity. Other county councils (Devon Council for example) are striving to encourage and fund small scale projects and/or enterprises which are beneficial to the local ecology, economy and local communities. For example: a community orchard - where communal land is given over to the local residents to produce their own supply of apples, pears and possibly other fruits. Compare this with the proposed airport expansion with its increases in pollution, noise and "development" (read destruction of more green fields/ woodlands) and the faceless stream of increased traffic.
Please lets save our beautiful green areas for our future children. Lets start here and now.

Airport expansion does not serve to benefit anyone or anything in the longer term, and has no positive part to play in designing vibrant, resilient communities for the future. I believe the data being used to 'prove' viability not only to be misrepresenting the actual facts of the true, negative, impact on our lives locally but the entire concept of putting economic 'growth' (even if it were to be true, which it isn't) as the leader of our decisions is simply wrong and unintelligent. The economy is a function of our society, to serve our society, and is not, and should not be, the master - people are our society, and plans need to come from their individual & collective needs, not the profits & purchasing power of a very few with the 'reward' of some low incomes and the cost of our environment and community.

The town of Tykocin in Poland and all of its neighboring farms are being greatly affected by the government trying to buid a domestic airport. Privately owned land including small and large farms are at stake as the government has already outlined whose land it will need in order to pursue. The farmers are devasted and are slowly being forced into selling their land at a very LOW cost. This aiport will DRAMATICALLY change many lives and also Tykocin's environment. I was wondering if anyone can give me some kind of advice or direction to help prevent this from going further.
Thanks,

I am horrified that we are expanding our country's contribution to greenhouse gas emissions in this way.

No to the unnecessary expansion of Bristol Airport. It is not environmentally sound and Bristol city cannot afford it.

I oppose the airport expansion on environmental grounds both locally and globally.
