Below is the name and personal statement of opposition
to airport expansion of everyone who has signed the pledge.

As we are all, rightly, being urged to adopt a more sustainable life style, any expansion of Bristol Airport would nullify the useful contribution which many individuals are making. The government will have to consider far more seriously how much air travel this country can have ifefforts to offset climate change are to be genuine.

As I agree with most of the pledges I've read, I put my pledge on behalf of humans and other animals that will be further harmed by an increase in air traffic, by noise and pollution and, in the case of animals (mainly birds), death. There have been calls for a mass cull of geese in N America after they 'downed' a plane in the Hudson. I'm very happy for all the passengers who escaped, but it was not the fault of the geese; they were there first, and have no alternative. In the coming hard times, we will not be able to eat aeroplanes!

No we do not need another runway at these London and Gatwick Airports whats wrong with using the smaller airports around the country?

People who believe that we have to have more runway capacity to cope with increased demand and to protect our economy are living in the past and do not understand the gravity of the peril life on earth faces. They should not be running the country.

Airport expansion doesn't make environmental sense, and given peak oil and peak money it will be an economic white elephant also. It won't create jobs that are viable, and it won't 'stimulate the economy'.

to expand any airport increases co2 pollution, local traffic congestion on roads and noise both near and overhead. Green sites are destroyed to make way for car parks. We are trying to kill ourselves. Stop it !

I am strongly against the expansion of airports in this country as it makes a nonsense of the Government's commitment to reducing greenhouse gasses.

I disagree with the proposals to expand the number of UK runways as such proposals are not compatible with goverment policy to reduce UK carbon emissions. The development of future larger passenger carrying aircraft with more efficient engines will reduce the overall polution and at the same time with the increased passenger carrying capability reduce the need for any further runways and airport expansions. This eliminates the use of massive financial and material resources releasing them to be used on the resarch and development of more eco-friendly transport systems and energy efficient processes.

If the government continue with their plans to expand air transport I am prepared to take nonviolent direct action to stop the building of new airports.
